Famous Italian Food – A Brief Overview
Now, we all know that Italian food makes us think first of all of the famous pizza. The original pizza from Italy is world famous. But this does not mean that the Italian Cuisine has nothinh else to offer. When you visit Italy, you will notice that the region determines the kind of food that comes on the table. For example, Napoli and Sicily have thick Pizza crust and Rome has a thin one.
The style of cooking in Italy is based on the crops that are grown in that specific region. Tomatoes, olive oil and Mozarella cheese are typical food ingredients in the south, while Parmigiane cheese, risotto and a lot of cream and butter can be found in Northern Italy.
The kitchens in Tuscany like unsalted bread, meat and white beans, while in Rome sheep milk cheese and pecorino are preferred. Naples is famous for its mozzarella and delicious pizza, and in the north of Italy you will find different types of tortellini and pastas. The cooks in Calabria are fond of capsicum and hot peppers. When you love fresh fish, lemaon and pistachio in your food then you should visit Sicily. And Sardinia is renowned for their excellent lamb dishes.
One of the success factors of Italian cooking is that it is that the process preserves the natural taste of the food. Italian food is almost entirely based on wheat prducts like pasta and bread. And their products are healthy and very light. A lot of different techniques are used, but most importantly they want to keep it simple easy to make. As a result, most italian recipes are not that difficult to learn and can be made quickly.
Let’s have a look at the basics. Rice and pastas are cooked in hot water. To fry vegetables, you can sauteĆ© these in fat or oil. Occasionally, the food can be browned in hot fat and then cooked in wine or broth. Seasonings, like oregano, and a heap of aromatic vegetables are used a lot too.
